About Pench National Park
One of the famous national park of India. It is located in Seoni and Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh state. It is also part of Maharashtra state.
Pench river flows through Pench National Park and divides it into two districts. Pench National Park gets it’s name because of this river only.
Pench Tiger Reserve was awarded to “Best Maintain Tourist Friendly National Park” Award under the National Tourism Prize 2006-07
Identification: Rudyard Kipling wrote “The Jungle Book” here and created a fictional character “Mowgli“
Objective: Save Wildlife
Established in: 1965 as Wildlife Sanctuary. It got it’s National Park status in 1975. In 1992, it was established as a tiger reserve.
Location: Located Seoni and Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh, and part of Maharashtra state in central India.
Area: 1179.63 km²
Core Area: 411.33 km²
Buffer Area: 768.30 km²
Temperature Range: 4°C in winter to 42°C during summer
Climate: Hot temperate during summer and pleasant in winters.
Best Time: 15th October to 15th June

Turia Zone, Karmajhiri Zone are core zones
Wolf Sanctuary, Rukhad Zone, Jamtara Zone, Teliya Zone are buffer zones in Madhya Pradesh state.
Khursapar Zone, Sillari Zones come under Maharashtra state.
